What is Slug?

Also known as: URL slug

A slug is the readable identifier in a URL that names a specific page — the "blue-cotton-kurta" part of a product address.

Good slugs are lowercase, hyphen-separated, short and descriptive. They help both readers and search engines understand a page before it loads.

Slugs should be treated as permanent. Changing one breaks every existing link to that page and discards the search visibility it has accumulated, unless a redirect is put in place.
